How to make a hidey-hole << Previous Next >> P.J. (Peg) Hardwick (adm) - Sep 29, 2006 View | Viewers Categories: HTML From the admin. sites:
Posted by Deb Shultz I know I've seen several posts about "hidey holes", but I've searched the archives and only found one general post. I didn't renew my practice site before the price increase (and am really regretting it), so now I need a hidey hole. Can someone help me? :-) Barb Brocaw - Jul 23, 2003
Basically to create it: 1) Go to the list page in the News Section 2) Change the URL. It'll look like the one below http://www.myfamily.com/isapi.dll?c=Content&htx=List&siteid= TILFAE&contentclass=NEWS&_lin=1 Remove NEWS&_lin=1 and after the = add your own four letter or alpha-numeric combination (what you want to name your new area). Say you wanted a chapel area for your site and wanted to use AMEN, your URL would look like this http://www.myfamily.com/isapi.dll?c=Content&htx=List&siteid= TILFAE&contentclass=AMEN 3) Hit your enter key and there you are right smack dab on the first page of your new "hidey-hole". 4) Mark that URL as a favorite so you can easily get back in to your hidey-hole. If you lose the link, don't worry, you can always get back to it by going to the news list page and repeating the steps above. 5) Now you can start adding content to the area, practice on your banners there, stash clipart, code or just whatever you need. Posts don't generate any "new content" notices so what you put there is not sent out to your members.
That's kind of short and sweet but it'll get you started. You can make as many of these as you need. One for Games, one for a chapel area, one for your practice area, a private area for you and the other site admins to discuss things......... It all gets charged to your site usage, just doesn't generate any new content notices to your members. Hope this helps
